Enfield Kicks off 2008

Posted by jonathanfryer on Sunday, 6th January, 2008

Enfield LibDems kicked off the political New Year this afternoon, with an ‘At Home’ hosted by the new Chair, Paul D Smith and his wife Simma. This was deliberately not a fundraising affair, nor were there any speakers. Instead, the idea was that local members could get to know each other better, socialise over a good spread (and quiz the Enfield-Haringey GLA candidate, Monica Whyte, as well as Euro-me, at the same time) and brace themselves for a busy campaigning year ahead. With PR list elections for the GLA/London Mayoral this May, and for the European Parliament in June 2009, every vote in every ward in the capital will count, providing an incentive for local parties everywhere to campaign or distribute some literature even in so-called ‘black holes’, while of course using those elections to build up their target wards — especialy important in a ‘zero councillor’ borough such as Enfield.
